LENN | An Interview With

LENN blew our mind with her single ‘Cheap Talk’ back in June and now she’s back! Second billing baby! This time we have an interview, where we engage in conversation about the recently-released lyric video for ‘Cheap Talk’, Ben & Jerry’s and *sniff*…the World Cup. I hope you enjoy! Here’s LENN’s official website.

Hey LENN, how’s it going? Hello Adam. Yes, busy, but I am good.

You’ve just released a lyric video to your recent single ‘Cheap Talk’. The editing and effort that went into it must’ve been sky high. How many post-its and rubber ducks were used? Six rubber ducks and lots of post-its. I’m happy to report that neither were harmed during the making of this video. [Laughs]

But no, I had fun doing it and although it did take a lot of effort, I think the end result was worth it.

The single is a triumphant way to say goodbye to a former partner. Did you intend for the song to be an anthem for everyone to join in to or more as a song for yourself? I didn’t really think of it like that. I was just writing a song about what was on my mind. It’s cool when people get it too though and I suppose that part of the skill is writing in a way that’s relatable.

It seems silly to ask this as [AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEWING] the World Cup hasn’t even finished yet, but how does it feel to live in a world where Football has finally come home? It’s actually the first year I’ve been into football and I have to say a part of me did believe that it was coming home. I felt on some level that I was a lucky charm, but sadly I went on holiday… then we lost to Croatia… coincidence?

You’ve mentioned in other interviews that your next single is your favourite to date. What is it, what is it, what is it? and when can we expect to hear it? It’s cool. It’s hip. It’s bop diddly bop. [Laughs] I won’t give you a title, but it’s great for the summer and more chilled than Cheap Talk. A bunch of people who’ve heard it have also said it’s their favourite.

One of the new songs I’m working on now is really exciting me too and I’m hoping that each release is a step up from the last.

It’s also been mentioned that you like to hang out with certain friends named Ben and Jerry. Favourite flavour? Mine’s Cookie Dough which is very safe but always reliable. [Laughs] That was such a lame joke on my part. Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Again, not the most adventurous, but predictability is underrated.

What else is planned for you for the rest of 2018? Got three remixes of Cheap Talk coming out, which I’ll send ya. Getting in the studio as much as possible around working full time zZzZZz. Definitely want to be gigging ASAP, but the priority for now is writing new material.

Finally, if you could close out this interview with one final thought, what would it be? Goodnight. Mic drop. [Laughs]
