Tanners drops gold with new single | ‘Venus’

Tanners has become one of my favourite new artists to burst onto the scene this year, and she caps off an impressive year with the equally-impressive new single ‘Venus’. I absolutely loved her debut EP Tanners back in August and was not expecting to hear anything new from her so soon. It’s like Christmas has come early.

‘Venus’ was inspired by a recent trip to South East Asia, in which Tanners experienced a night sky bedazzled by the stars and planets, while also contrasting it against the harsh reality of returning to the city. “dramatic  mood-shifts  from  the  verse  to  the  chorus  which  mirrored a lot of what I was feeling at the time; a massive comedown and a bright afterglow.” says Tanners.

The track’s instrumentation depicts that perfectly, as shimmering synths collide to paint the airwaves a broad stroke of the night sky experienced on the aforementioned trip, but alongside that comes a harsh deliverance of heavy sounds that warp the track into displaying the constant hustle and bustle of the streets of New York. There’s a yearning that’s constant throughout, but Tanners delivers it in a way that strikes like any good hook should.

‘Venus’ is a wonderful anthem filled with all sorts of highs and lows, and allows each emotion to be showcased excellently. I’m excited to hear how Tanners follows up what’s been a great debut year, and I’m hoping whatever it is doesn’t take too long.
