Bloxx – “The shows are going to be huge.” / Interview
Since the release of their exceptional debut album Lie Out Loud, Bloxx have received nothing but love and praise for their work. It’s understandable – the record is chock full of bangers and never once falls short. It quickly shaped up to be my favourite release of the year, and I’ve previously gushed about it here on Sounds Good.
Bloxx are an exciting band with exciting things in the works, including a headline tour starting early next year. I recently caught up with lead singer Fee to discuss what she’s most looking forward to about being on the road again, the band’s career highlights, and embracing the challenges of a mid-pandemic album release.
Check it out, and give Lie Out Loud a listen if you haven’t already!
Hey Bloxx, how’s it going? Not too bad, not too bad! Weird times.
You released your debut album Lie Out Loud earlier this year, and it’s probably my favourite record of 2020. What was it like putting out an album mid-pandemic? Thank you! It was very strange but we had to come to terms with all the differences it brought the campaign! It’s not an easy time for anyone at all.
Were there any tracks penned for Lie Out Loud that didn’t make the final cut? I guess there was one I wrote that I didn’t get to finish as it wasn’t a band fave.
There’s a lot of buzz around the Bloxx name as you steadily rise the ranks. You’ve got loads of exciting prospects as a band, but what’s been the best moment of your career so far? I think all of our support slots and Reading and Leeds shows are a highlight for me. Getting to play stages I’ve watched my favourite bands play has been incredible. Releasing the record in general was a really good feeling. It feels good to know it resonated with many people.
You’ve planned a string of UK shows for early 2021 to celebrate the album – I bet you can’t wait to get back to playing gigs! What are you most looking forward to about being on tour? I love taking in a different city and crowd every night. It’s incredible, the buzz is inexplicable.
Finally, if you could close out this interview with one final thought, what would it be? New things on the horizon soon, and come down to hear these tunes live for the first time next year! The shows are going to be huge.
